Heyyy Baby Messy Bun Beanie!






Pattern by Michelle Plummer of 5 Knots North

This pattern is worked "top down" and begins with a chain of 40 stitches!

Weight 4 in yarn

size 5.5mm-6mm hook
(I crochet tight so I use a 6mm hook)

Abbreviations:

ch "chain"
st "stitch
sts "stitches
DC "Double Crochet
HDC "Half Double Crochet"
FP "Front Post"
BP "Back Post"


Stitches used: 

Half Double Crochet, Double Crochet, Half Double Crochet in the 3rd loop, Front Post Half Double crochet, Back Post Half Double Crochet.

Pattern...

1. ch 40. Join to first stitch in chain.
2. ch 2. HDC in each st around. Join. 40 sts
3. ch 2. In HDC, increase in every 4th st. Join. 50 sts
4. ch 2. HDC around. =50 sts
5. ch 2. In HDC, increase in every 5th st. Join. 60 sts
6. ch 2. DC in each st around. Join.
7. ch 2. HDC in each st around. Join.
8. ch 2. HDC into the 3rd loop of each st. Join.


9. ch 2. HDC into the 3rd loop of each st. Join.
10. ch 2. HDC into the 3rd loop of each st. Join.
11. ch 2. DC into the 3rd loop of each st. Join.
12. ch 2. In DC, alternate FP and BP sts, around. Join.
13. ch 2. In DC, FP into each st, around. Join.
14. ch 2. HDC into each stitch, around. Join.
15. ch 2. HDC into the 3rd loop of each st. Join.
16. ch 2. HDC into the 3rd loop of each st. Join.
17. ch 2. HDC into the 3rd loop of each st. Join.
18. ch 2. HDC into the 3rd loop of each st. Join.
19. ch 2. In HDC, alternate FP and BP sts, around. Join.
20. Repeat 19
21. Repeat 19
22. Repeat 19
23. Repeat 19

Please be sure that brim is as long as needed before cutting off yarn and knotting off.  I made this brim to fit my head with a little bit to spare.
