The "Heyyy Baby Cowl"

cowl using a 100 stitch chain measured 12 1/2 inches across and 9 inches long

Hook: 5-5.5mm (I crochet tight so I use a 5.5mm)

Yarn: weight 4 medium or worsted.  The white cowl took about 250 yards to make.

Abbreviations:
ch =chain
dc =double crochet
st =stitch
sts =stitches
hdc =half double crochet
sc =single crochet
fp/bp =front post, back post
fp =front post

Stitches used:
single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet, half double crochet in the 3rd loop, front post double crochet, back post double crochet.

How to crochet into the 3rd loop in the round...


Please watch video above it you are not familiar with crocheting in the 3rd loop!

Pattern:

1. ch 90. join with first ch to form big loop making sure ch is straight around and not twisted.  loop should go over your head nicely.  if you want the cowl to be more snug, ch 80. if you want the cowl to have a looser fit, ch 100.  Cowls modeled in my photos are ch 100. ch 1.
2. sc around. join in the ch 1. (chains do NOT count as stitches BUT where I join at the end of each round).
3. ch 2. dc in each st around. join.
4. ch 2. dc in each st around. join.
5. ch 2. dc in each st around. join.
6. ch 2. alternate fp/bp dc stitches around. join.
7. ch 2. fp dc in each st around. join.
8. ch 2. hdc in each st around. join.
9. ch 2. hdc in the 3rd loop of each st around. join.
10. ch 2. hdc in the 3rd loop of each st around. join.
11. ch 2. hdc in the 3rd loop of each st around. join.
12. ch 2. dc in the 3rd loop of each st around. join.
13. ch 2. alternate fp/bp dc stitches around. join.
14. ch 2. fp dc in each st around. join.
15. ch 2. hdc in each st around. join.
16. ch 2. hdc in the 3rd loop of each st around. join.
17. ch 2. hdc in the 3rd loop of each st around. join.
18. ch 2. hdc in the 3rd loop of each st around. join.
19. ch 2. dc in the 3rd loop of each st around. join.
20. ch 2. alternate fp/bp dc stitches around. join.
21. ch 2. fp dc in each st around. join.
