Rows 13-24: repeat row 12.
Once row 24 is complete...knot off, weave in ends, and there ya go! You have yourself the Lakeside Beanie!!!
This pattern can be adjusted to be as long as you want. If you would rather have a slouchier type beanie... Just keep adding more rows of fp/bp dcs.
If there are any questions please feel free to find me on Facebook at "5 Knots North". I do not go on this blog often and it is much quicker to reach me through Facebook!
Much love and have a wonderful day!
For rows 13-24 are we actually supposed to repeat row 12?
ReplyDeleteYes
DeleteYep! that's what it says...
ReplyDeleteCan I use 4mm hook as I don't have 5mm
ReplyDeleteIt will be much smaller is all
DeleteI imagine you could, but you might have to add some more rounds to make up for the tighter gauge you'll get from a smaller hook.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'm just not seeing it, but how many inches around at the brim is this pattern as written?
ReplyDeleteNancy...I was wondering the same thing...did you find out the size...?
DeleteSize is not listed ... although most adult beanie's made with men in mind are avg. 22" to 24" around and avg. 8.5" to 9" long from top of crown to just below the ear.... There are lot's of "hat sizing tips and such, right here on Pinterest ... just use your "SEARCH BAR" Can also try "YOUTUBE" ..hope this helps
DeleteThank you for this pattern. I love it and so did the recipients for Xmas.
ReplyDeleteCan't wat to make this for Hubby. He always states that there is not much out there for men. It will be a surprise!!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. I've made this today, a great pattern.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. I've made this today, a great pattern.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say Thank you for sharing this pattern. I have made several for family and friends. Finally made myself one and I love it! Wore it out today and it is so warm and comfortable. I will be making more of these for myself in other colors.. Wonderful pattern Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't a reply, but a question. You made it for several people. How did it fit? Is it One Size Fits All or were you able to adjust the sizes? Thank you!
DeleteI am having trouble at the 'join' after row 12. It doesn't lay right, seeming to spread. Is it really essential to join, or can this party be worked in continuous round?
ReplyDeletei join in top ch of ch2 from beg to end...works n look fine for me...
DeleteHi.. try this link to help with Joining in the round : https://lookatwhatimade.net/crafts/yarn/crochet/crochet-tutorials/how-to-crochet-in-the-round-spiral-vs-joining/
DeleteThank you so much for this pattern. It is a great one for men and I love the way it works up. Have you posted it in a child size? The little boys in my neighborhood would love one, but I do not know how to reduce the size correctly. Thanks again, for this pattern!
ReplyDeleteMary
Hi, there are plenty of hat/beanie sizing tips right here on Pinterest, just use your "SEARCH BAR" It would be too difficult to walk you thru a size reduction here .... Good luck
DeleteI just want to make sure does the chain 2 count as stiches ?
ReplyDeleteSista Kirst ... I wrote to you in comments below before seeing this “reply” button. In the end, I did NOT count the CH2 as a stitch. I just frogged it to get the right number of DCs and my beanie turned out great. I wish I could figure out how to share a photo of it.
Delete
DeleteChain 2 does count as the first stitch. It keeps each row with that row's design correct from row to row.
I have been wondering same thing as I always have wrong number at end of a row and have to frog last two stitches.

ReplyDeleteI love this pattern. I have made several for friends and family. It's so easy but looks so good when done. Thank you for sharing this pattern with us.
ReplyDeleteWhat should the gauge be? I am using lion brand acrylic It says 4 ... but seems possible thin?
ReplyDeleteCan you please tell me the brand and color name of the blue variegated one?
ReplyDeleteCan you please tell me what diameter is this beanie for men. I have been looking for a pattern xl for men. I have to do a beanie for 23.5 circumference or 7.45 in diameter. I would love to work on this style. It’s beautiful
ReplyDeleteAs long as you crown measures 8" across and the length is about 8.5" to 9" long and the base of your hat is about 12" measured while flat, it should fit. Try this link: https://hearthookhome.com/how-to-size-crochet-hats-master-beanie-pattern/
DeleteI can't see on the pattern where you start the second color. Can you please help?
ReplyDeleteMost color change on hats/beanie's take place at point of start or stop row. Hope this helps
DeleteI made 3 of these for a friend in Chicago and 2 for my husband. Both men absolutely love them.. Thank you for the pattern
ReplyDeleteDoes 70 stitches around fit an average size adult man?
ReplyDeleteAvg. Adult men is 22' to 24" if your has crown measures about 8" and the length is 8.5" to 9" long and the base of the hat measures about 12" flat, it should fit ( always make about one inch smaller, for stretch) here's a link that may help: https://hearthookhome.com/how-to-size-crochet-hats-master-beanie-pattern/

Delete70 stitches seems really big?
ReplyDeleteIts actually a nice size for men. I even tried it on and fits well. If its to big you can always wash n dry it to shrink it a little.
DeleteThank you for this pattern. Just made one for my husband and he loves it!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Chell.... I have made this beanie for several people — mostly veterans. Everybody loves it!!! I would like to make matching beanies for my niece, nephew, and the baby they are expecting. Do you have sizes for wee ones? Maybe I missed it. ???
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your patterns.
Mary

ReplyDeleteGreat to find a beanie for a male. I hope I can figure this one out.
ReplyDeleteHi Ellie... it would be nearly impossible to walk you thru it here ... Try "YOUTUBE" or try this link: https://hearthookhome.com/how-to-size-crochet-hats-master-beanie-pattern/
DeleteCan I make this hat using Lion Brand Scarfie yarn (bulky 5)? Would I need to change the hook size?

ReplyDeleteMy all time favourite men’s beanie
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful video. You show and describe everything very slowly and thoughly and it is easy to follow along. I have been crocheting for 65 years but am always looking for new stitches, patterns and techniques.Freinds and family get a kick out of me because I love to just sit and watch crochet tutorials. Kind of my type of TV. I like to ''air ccrochetalong as I watch. Your voice is so soothing it almost puts me into a trance. So thank you and this will be my next hat.
ReplyDeleteHi, I wanted to get started on this tonight. Where is the video? Also does anyone know if the chain 2 counts as a stitch?
DeleteThanks!!
LOVE this pattern! I made a fleece liner for it and my brother wore the hat every day last winter. This year I am making two!
